Home  »  Bollywood News  »  Aamir Khan opts out of Rajkumar Hirani's next

Updated : Sep 17, 2025

Rajkumar Hirani has delivered classics like Munnabhai MBBS, Lageraho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots, PK. His Sanju and Dunki, even though did not live up to the expectations of audiences, ended up being box office hits. Sanju did win awards for Ranbir Kapoor but Dunki ended up as the director career's weakest work.

But prior to the release of Dunki, he and his co-writer Abhijat Joshi, have called the film and script as their best ever. It did not reach those high expectations and they did not address any concerns post release, too. Reports have been aplenty that Aamir Khan will join hands with Hirani for Dadasaheb Phalke biopic.

The movie had to go on floors from October 2025, but Aamir had opted out of it, say current reports. It is stated that Aamir asked both Hirani and Abhijat to re-work on the script as he felt it lacked sense of humor that both of them specialise in. As their combination delivered PK and 3 Idiots, he feared about expectations.

Aamir further opined that the script needs more spice and strong drama, say reports. Currently, Rajkumar is looking for other scripts and opportunities while Aamir is not in the mood to pursue this project and listening to other filmmakers. He even terminated Lokesh Kanagaraj's Superhero project post Coolie release.
